Ten individuals convicted of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of spreading false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court issued suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's gender.
Their complaint contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof contradicting her allegations choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
